Within the scope of the make-up artist design show, Kryolan Berlin will present the award Golden Mask for Make-up Artists to national and international make-up artists for their special commitment, design of important masks and artistic creativity. Arnold Langer, the founder of Kryolan, created the award in order to provide a stage for deserving make-up artists and to honour their special achievements.
The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, 30 March 2019, at 5 p.m. in the Presentation Forum in Hall 11.
Wolfgang Weber, who has been chief make-up artist at the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg for 20 years, will receive the Golden Mask National. He loves and lives for his versatile profession. The young generation of the trade is of particular concern to him. He trains all the make-up artists employed at the in-house workshop himself, and he is a member of the examination committee of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the skilled occupation of make-up artist. As chairman of the Gewerkschaft Deutscher Bühnen, Wolfgang Weber is also actively involved in the professional interests of his colleagues.
The international award goes to Mimi Choi from Vancouver. Mimi Choi is known for her unique artistic style and has attracted international attention with her illusionary make-up. It’s a real pleasure to look at her extraordinary work. Many followers follow her work on social media. The talented young make-up artist lives her vision and creativity, and challenges herself every day. In addition, she passes on her knowledge to many interested young artists and is known and loved throughout the world.
