make-up artist design show: Significance as an International Meeting Point Grows
20/03/2011
Already in the second year of its existence the make-up artist design show, Trade Fair for Make-up Artists, has made a name for itself in the sector. At its second edition held on 19 and 20 March 2,300 visitors came to Düsseldorf to gather information on new products and techniques, to learn from renowned experts and to meet colleagues. Director Helmut Winkler drew a satisfied conclusion: “Already in its first year the make-up artist design show was very successful. The increased international flair of the event particularly shows us that the make-up artist design show is becoming better and better known in the sector as a rewarding trade show for make-up artists. Here professionals meet with professionals and with this concept we are on exactly the right track.”
Wolfram Langer, Managing Director of the Berlin firm KRYOLAN and co-initiator of the fair, described the show as a great success: “The setting is very successful and the basic idea behind this event, not primarily intended as a sales fair but as a platform for make-up artists, is going down well. Which is why the first presentation of vocational schools proved successful and is sure to be even bigger next year.” Langer confirmed the young fair’s increased prominence in the sector and reported more visitors, especially from Scandinavian countries.
In the sector the make-up artist design show meets with unreserved approval. Regine Hergersberg, President of the German Federal Association of Make-Up Artistry (Bundesvereinigung Maskenbild e.V.) delighted at the increased size of the event: “The extended range of exhibitors offered trade visitors even more exciting impressions and information from our small but select sector. In our eyes this means more opportunities for experts to exchange ideas and do all-important networking, which is gratifying.”
Very well attended right from the first presentation the Lecture Forum featured acclaimed make-up artists presenting their work and a showcase of new techniques. In three workshops per day trade visitors were also able to try out techniques and materials themselves in the Creative Workshop under expert guidance – which met with avid interest and particularly high praise from visitors.
Bernd Uwe Staatz, Chief Make-Up Artist at the opera house Deutsche Oper am Rhein also delighted at the increased number of practical presentations and the great popularity of the creative workshop: “These practical demonstrations go down really well. It is a great fair to have. In the first place, it is proper trade fair that has once again improved in terms of setting. Here people can really talk, chat and exchange ideas with colleagues.”
Exhibitor Gernot Minke, Managing Director at Minke props from Duisburg, praised the specialist expertise of visitors: “In any case there are more decision-makers here than in London, we have the better approach for our sector here in Düsseldorf. There were good people here from many companies – from the German-speaking area including Zurich, St. Gallen, Vienna, Stuttgart and Hamburg. We held positive talks.”
