Shaune Harrison, Great Britain

Shaune Harrison’s fascination with prosthetic special make-up effects began at the age of thirteen while watching An American Werewolf in London after which he knew he wanted to make monsters. Beginning his career on Clive Barker’s Nightbreed in 1988, he laid the foundation for a body of work spanning over two decades on some of the world’s highest grossing blockbusters. Today, Shaune is one of the most highly respected and sought after make-up effects artists in the British film industry and continues to create creatures and prosthetic makeup effects for film and television. A key contributor to some of movie history’s most memorable characters, he has worked on numerous characters for Star Wars, Stardust, The Mummy, The Fifth Element, The DaVinci Code, World War Z and Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Tate Steinsiek, USA

Tate Steinsiek is known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man, Piranhaconda and Sharknado 2. Establishing his own company SFX artist, he began providing SFX make-up, prosthetic application, and prop fabrication to the film and television industry. In his 12 year career, he has coordinated films and television in 11 countries. His work has been featured internationally in galleries, workshops and seminars. His artwork has been sold in galleries internationally alongside famous artists.  In print, his work has been featured in Fangoria, Rue Morgue, Make Up Artist Magazine and The New York Times, to name a few. He is a two time finalist on SYFY's hit show FACE OFF. Upcoming projects include directing a screen adaptation of the Clive Barker story Age of Desire.

Birgit Mörtl, Austria

Birgit Mörtl is an internationally outstanding and acknowledged artist and fashion designer. Her artistic focal point is on body painting, in particular special effects in combination with fashion design. Her passions also include painting, art, costumes, sculptures, airbrush, decoration, installation and photography. She has accumulated numerous international awards. She passes on her multifaceted knowledge in workshops at home and abroad. Since 1997, she has been enthusiastically committed to the world-famous top charity event, the Life Ball in Vienna, which takes place every year. Here, she is responsible for all of the body painting and partly for the costumes of the opening show. For this purpose, she manages a team from up to 100 artists.

Dennis Penkov, Germany

Being passionate about special-effects make-up, Dennis Penkov laid the foundation stone for his career. He completed training as a theatre make-up artist at Berlin’s Theater des Westens and worked for several years at the Babelsberg film studios. 2003 saw him establish his academy, where he has since then passed on his longstanding professional experience in workshops and at coaching sessions at theatres and during film projects. The famous movie and TV productions in which he was involved include Antikörper, Blood Rayne,  Phantomschmerz, Mr. Nobody, Die wilden Hühner, Pope Joan, Drei, Rammstein, Plötzlich Fett, Es kommt noch dicker, Passion, The Physician, Ich bin dann mal weg, Banklady, The Voices, Schoßgebete, Schuld, The Quest, Till Lindemann und Penny Dreadful.

Michael Loncin, Belgium

With his knowledge and skills, Michael Loncin is everywhere, where special effects are in demand. He handles tricky tasks for movies such as The Shadow Within as well as for performances at the Brussels Opera and at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. For a long time, he was responsible for the SFX area of the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival.  He works internationally as lecturer for renowned make-up schools, theatres and TV studios. In Brussels, he opened the first training centre for special effects in Belgium and trains students in this specialist area.

Paul Merchant, Great Britain

Paul Merchant has worked in all disciplines of the make-up industry, from theatre to fashion, body painting to cosmetic camouflage. As a self taught artist, he has developed his own style of working and loves to play around with products and materials. He has taught in countless schools and colleges across the U.K and has completed tours of India and Taiwan focusing on High Definition make-up in Bollywood and editorial fashion. His work includes London Fashion Week, Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model Live, various editorial campaigns, tutorial videos and shows with designers. His work has been featured in magazines such as Face On, Elle, Cosmopolitan and Vogue.

Alexander Schier, Germany

Following his hairstylist training, Alexander Schier completed an apprenticeship as a theatrical make-up artist at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. Since 2000, he has worked here as an instructor and as the assistant senior make-up artist since 2005. For many years now, he has been entrusted with the realisation of wearable mask designs for a number of opera and ballet performances. Beside this, he is in charge of make-up for many cultural events such as the Düsseldorf Festival, works for many film productions and photo shoots and is active as a lecturer.

Markus Ehmke, Germany

Markus Ehmke is currently working as a plastics engineer at an injection-moulding company. Since his schooldays, he has been passionately drawing and painting. At a later time, works in oil and acrylic paints on canvas were added. Since 2010, he has annually exhibited his paintings at AirbrushExpo in Leipzig. As a lecturer, he gives courses in airbrush on the topics of portraits and animal illustrations, for example at Kustomstore in Moers. At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (German Opera on the Rhine) in Düsseldorf, he teaches spraying on masks and creating skin structures with a scalpel and  eraser pencils.
